How is the journal library updated?

I use an extensive set of PubMed filters capturing rehabilitation concepts related to stroke, SCI, brain injury, PD, MS, other neurodegenerative, vestibular disorders, and other neurological conditions. These filters are screened several times a week, and the journal library is updated accordingly with the plain language summary, citation, link, and appropriate classification. The few exceptions to this would be times of illness, PTO, or extenuating circumstances which would be communicated in the community forum.

Does the journal library include the full study or any copyrighted information?

Nope, sure doesn't. This database is intended as an educational tool for clinicians, therapists, and healthcare professionals. Its goal is to support evidence-based practice by providing brief, original summaries of recently published research and direct links to the source articles.

All article summaries are original content created by the database curator (me, Liz, hi) and do not reproduce copyrighted material (such as full-text PDFs or figures) from the publications. These summaries are transformative and educational in nature: they provide concise, plain-language interpretations tailored for neurorehabilitation clinicians and highlight key clinical takeaways rather than restating the authors’ text. Their use is intended to fall within fair use for educational and informational purposes. Links provided direct users to the publisher’s official site. Some articles may require subscription or institutional access; the database does not host or distribute paywalled content.

In short, this database is a curation tool to facilitate access to current research. It is not a substitute for reading the full study. Users are encouraged to consult the original publications before making clinical decisions. While summaries are prepared carefully, they are not peer-reviewed interpretations and should be considered a starting point for evidence appraisal to determine interest in study contents.

Do the databases have every single study?

While my filtering skills are pretty great, I can't guarantee they're perfect. I catch most relevant studies, but not all. I'd guess probably 90%.

Do I need Evidence in Action to stay updated, complete critical appraisals of evidence, and perform knowledge translation?

Sure don't! If you're interested if doing this all for yourself - 100% go for it. I've included in the free resources page a basic critical appraisal guide and knowledge translation framework guide - but there are SO MANY other resources out there that are also free of charge. (I'm a big fan of CASP checklists personally).

Feel free to shoot me an email or DM on instagram and I'll also send you my pubmed filters, they're just a bit too long to paste into this section. We can also work together to customize them to your interests.

Is Evidence in Action approved for CEUs?

Yep!

Evidence in Action is approved by the State of California's Physical Therapy Association for 1.5 CEUs/15 contact hours.

Most states accept a course that has been pre-approved by another state's board. If your state does not, documentation is included in the course for self-submittal if that is an option.

If you don't know if your state does, please reach out and I can help you figure that out!

Are you an AOTA approved provider?

Unfortunately not! Evidence in Action is in its pilot stages. With success, the platform would look to apply as an AOTA approved provider.

Do you offer refunds?

Per industry standard, as this is an online platform and course, refunds are generally not offered.

That said, if the course is truly not all you hoped and dreamed it could be and there is a financial hardship (times are hard guys) - please reach out and we can try to work something out on a case by case basis. This is limited to within 30 days of purchase, and would not include the 2.5-3% processing fee for payment.

I really want to join the platform, but the pricing is a bit steep for me right now

Again, times are hard guys. I never want cost to limit participation in something like this. Reach out to me personally and we will work something out.
